چکیده

This paper presents an autonomous framework for building a real 3-D human teeth database. Firstly, teeth fixed over wax are scanned by using a Cone-beam CT scanner. Then, adaptive Level-set segmentation is used to extract teeth from the wax to build the 3-D model. Finally, point-based 3-D shape registration is used to align different teeth models to minimize global differences represented in scales, rotations, and translations. A total of 280 3-D tooth models have been created to build the database of real human teeth and demonstrate the performance of the proposed framework. Three-dimensional simulation of human teeth and its application in dental education and research

Background: A comprehensive database, comprising geometry and properties of human teeth, is needed for dentistry education and dental research. The aim of this study was to create a three-dimensional model of human teeth to improve the dental E-learning and dental research.   Methods: In this study, a cross-section picture of the three-dimensional model of the teeth was used. CT-Scan im...

Metal Artifact Reduction of Dental Fillings in Head and Neck CT Images

Introduction: The issue of metal artifact and its reduction is as old as the clinical use of computed tomography itself. When metal objects such as dental fillings, hip prostheses or surgical clips are present in the computed tomography (CT) field of view (FOV), make severe artifacts that reduce the image quality and accuracy of CT numbers. They can lead to unreliable ...

Computational approach towards identification of pathogenic missense mutations in AMELX gene and their possible association with amelogenesis imperfecta

Amelogenin gene (AMEL-X) encodes an enamel protein called amelogenin, which plays a vital role in tooth development. Any mutations in this gene or the associated pathway lead to developmental abnormalities of the tooth. The present study aims to analyze functional missense mutations in AMEL-X genes and derive an association with amelogenesis imperfecta. The information on miss...

Detection of Defects in Dental with Support Vector

The process of dental defect analysis is to provide an efficient clinical support with less complexity in segmentation, better accuracy in foreground object detection and to provide local contrast and luminance invariant features using the various descriptors. The automatic decision support system includes adaptive threshold and support vector machine for dental disease prediction. The proposed...
